Alumni Spotlights

Class of 2020

Jennifer Song
Technology Analyst at Freddie Mac
Former VP of Programs, VP of External Programs, Member of Case Competitions

Reason for joining AMA: I initially joined AMA to gain experience with solving business cases. After being a part of the AMA community for three years, it has not only provided me with real-world case experience, but it has also offered me countless leadership opportunities and meaningful interactions with peers and faculty.

Favorite AMA experience: My favorite experience from AMA was planning Marketing Week, an annual event that incorporates faculty speakers, cross-collaboration with other business organizations on campus, and guest speakers from Pittsburgh-based companies. It was so rewarding to have the long planning process pay off and see students of diverse majors and backgrounds attend our Marketing Week events. In planning AMA events, we strive to gear our events toward professional and personal development, and Marketing Week is an event that embodies these goals for business and non-business majors alike.

Madeline Moon
Demand Generation Associate at AlphaSights
Former VP of Programs, Member of Consulting, Member of Case Competitions

Reason for joining AMA: I joined AMA because I wanted hands-on experience in the marketing field. Through this organization, my goal was to get a better understanding of the various ways marketing roles exist in different industries and network with professional marketers to gain insight into the field.

Favorite AMA experience: My favorite AMA memory is organizing Marketing Week (despite how stressful it was) because it was rewarding to see people show up to the events.

Pauling Ting
Graduate Student in London and Soon Working in Amazon Web Services
Former VP of Programs, Member of Consulting, Member of Case Competitions

Reason for joining AMA: I joined AMA because I wanted to join a group of supportive leaders who are trying to make an impact at CMU on the greater community in Pittsburgh. I had attended a couple of smaller events as a freshman and loved the mission, events, and the people in AMA.

Favorite AMA experience: My favorite experience was being able to go to Philadelphia and attend the AMA Conference at Wharton. It was such a unique opportunity to hear from leaders at Mondelez and Google and meet people from other AMA chapters.

Angela Huang
Data Analyst at IBM
Former President, VP of Programs, VP of Communications

Reason for joining AMA: I first joined AMA because I wanted to be more involved in the UBA community as well as develop my teamwork and leadership skills outside of the classroom. I stayed involved in the org mainly because of the amazing people I’ve had the opportunity to meet and connect with (especially upperclassmen who gave me such helpful college and career advice during my freshmen and sophomore years)!

Favorite AMA experience: My favorite AMA memory is traveling to New Orleans with a bunch of other AMA execs during my sophomore year. I had so much fun exploring the city, eating beignets and gumbos, and participating in the conference as a host chapter.

Amie Wong
Business Analyst at Wayfair
Former President, VP of Case Competitions

Reason for joining AMA: I joined AMA because of the many real-world project opportunities, conferences, and the ability to collaborate with students from other grade levels and other majors as well. I befriended a handful of friends outside of my classes that I still stay in contact with today.

Favorite AMA experience: My favorite experience with AMA was when I was able to attend the annual AMA conference in NOLA with a few other club members. We made sure to balance the educational seminars offered with a lot of sightseeing and food.
